Last April I decided to dive right into the world of photography and get practice with my camera outside of my own home. One of the first people to contact me was Natalie. Her son was turning three, and she wanted some updated photos of him. Right away I knew she had a special eye. She took me to an old, run down lot, and I immediately fell in love... with her! haha! To the average eye, this lot was just a piece of junk. But, to us, it was a gem... so many awesome little qualities that made his photos so unique and awesome. To this day, Mackston's three year old photos are some of my favorites. I would probably go back in time and lighten my editing hand a bit ;) And maybe tell my old self some of the photoshop tricks my new self knows now, but hey! You live and learn!
Since Mackston's 3 year old session last April, I have had the pleasure of photographing her family a handful of times. It's been so fabulous hanging out with her family and watching her kiddos grow. Each session she came to me with the most amazing ideas for styling. She would show up to each session with bags and boxes full of goodies. Seriously. She's addicted. ;)
Our last session here in San Angelo was no different. Well, I take that back... This time she didn't show up with bags or boxes, she showed up with a TRUCK LOAD! Literally. She made a homemade cake (her sweet hubby helped with the frosting), she raided friends' homes for quilts, pillows, doilies.. whatever she could find! She brought mason jars, candles, sparkling cider, plates, glasses... The list goes on.
We set up the bed of the truck, took a few family photos, a family friend picked up her kiddos and then... magic happened. They were laughing, playing, snuggling... They shared cake, sparking cider, laid on a blanket, watched the sunset... And believe it or not, it was completely natural... Even with an awkward third wheel documenting it all. ;)
This was an amazing way to close this chapter in my photography journey. I couldn't have asked for a better grand finale.
Thank you Natalie and Steven for letting me take part in your memories... <3
